Atlanta Spring and Summer Festivals You Don't Want To Miss

It is finally festival season! I am ready to spend my weekends hanging out with my kiddo, enjoying the sun, music, and art! Here are some of the best festivals that Atlanta has to offer this spring and summer. Some of these festivals may be outside of Atlanta but are still fun to attend. There are of course other festivals that are not listed, but I have chosen to list the family friendly festivals with children's areas. Atlanta Science Festival March 9-23, 2019 - Two weeks of science activities and events happening around Atlanta, ending with an expo at Piedmont Park. Click the link to read more info and register for events.

STEM Wars March 30, 2019STEM Wars 2019 will feature hands-on exhibits demonstrating current and emerging technologies from industry leaders. This event will expose students in grades 3rd -12th  to real-world science and technology applications and will inspire them to pursue careers in these areas. Atlanta Technical College.

Brookhaven Cherry Blossom Festival March 30-31, 2019 - Arts and crafts festival with family activities, music, car show, and a pet parade.

Food O Rama April 6, 2019Shop from 30 food trucks selling full portions and small plates at Food-o-Rama, with live music onstage, craft beer, vendors, and a kids’ zone in Grant Park. 

Pillow Fight in the Park April 6, 2019 - Pillows fly on International Pillow Fight Day. Bring a soft pillow without feathers to Grant Park (the corner of Cherokee Ave SE and Sydney Street SE).

Festival on Ponce April 6-7, 2019Spring Festival on Ponce features fine arts and crafts, folk art, a children’s area, local food, and acoustic music in historic Olmsted Linear Park at 1451 Ponce De Leon Avenue NE. Repeats in October.

Atlanta Streets Alive April 7, 2019 - Bring your bikes, scooters, or feet to enjoy car free streets. The first Streets Alive will be held on Peachtree Street.  

Atlanta Dogwood Festival April 12-14, 2019 - My favorite festival of the year! This is a very family friendly festival with family day starting on Friday. There will be rides, games, food, as well as art, music, and a 5k run. This is a must attend event! Piedmont Park.

 Inman Park Festival April 26-28, 2019 -  There will be vendors, and artist market, food, kids activities and a parade happening on Saturday at 2pm.

 All About Kids Expo  April 27, 2019 10am-3pm (Outside of Atlanta) - I haven't heard of this festival before but it looks fun! There will be a family fun zone as well as vendors for daycares, summer camps, healthcare and education.

Smyrna Jonquil Festival April 27-28, 2019 (Outside of Atlanta) - I miss this festival every year! Hopefully I can attend this year. There will be music, vendors, food, and a children's area. Happens at Village Green in Smyrna.

 Decatur Lantern Parade May 10, 2019 9pm  - We went to our first lantern parade last year for Halloween and it was exciting! You can find pre-decorated lanterns at the Dollar Tree or blank ready-to-decorate lanterns at Party City. I think we will decorate our own lanterns this year to take to the festival!

 Chastain Park Arts Festival May 11-12, 2019 - This art festival happens twice a year and I have heard good things about it. There will be arts and crafts, music, vendors, and a children's area. Free to attend.

Atlanta Jazz Festival May 25-26, 2019 - If you are in town for Memorial Day Weekend, you have to attend this Atlanta favorite! It features jazz legends on multiple stages at Piedmont Park. There is also a kids area! Free to attend.

 Virginia Highland SummerFest June 1-2, 2019 - The kids area at this festival is awesome! The music and vendors are great too.

Roswell Lavendar Festival June 8, 2019 (Outside of Atlanta) - I've been attending this festival for the past 2 years and it is always a blast! There are all day yoga classes, vendors, music, food, and activities for kids.

Atlanta Streets Alive June 9, 2019 - Bring your bikes, scooters, or feet to enjoy car free streets. The first Streets Alive will be held on Peachtree Street.  


Juneteenth June 14-16, 2019 - Juneteenth is a free three-day music festival with vendors and children’s activities at Mozley Park. On Saturday, a parade leaves Morris Brown College at noon and follows MLK Drive to the festival. The festival ends Sunday night with fireworks.

Atlanta Ice Cream Festival July 2019 - This is probably my daughter's favorite festival! This festival is usually packed, so go early in the morning. The kids fun zone is nice also.

Piedmont Park Arts Festival August 17-18, 2019 - Festivals at Piedmont Park are usually always fun and include a kids area. This festival will also have various types of art for sale, live music and food.

Grant Park Festival August 24-25, 2019 - Grant park is one of my favorite parks but I've never attended this festival. It looks nice though! With 2 music stages, food, vendors, and a kids area, I think I'll make my way over there this year.

DragonCon Parade August 31, 2019 10am - Technically not a festival but this parade is not one to miss!
