3 Simple Resolutions All Moms Should Make In The New Year

A new year is always a great time to put plans and goals into action. I personally like to make resolutions for different areas of my life, home, business, personal, etc. I wanted to share a few simple resolutions that I think all moms should make in the new year.

1. Plan a day or a few days to unplug from social media and the internet. Take this time for extra bonding with your children. There are many things that you can do for yourself during your social media detox, journal, take a yoga class, catch up on your reading or podcasts. You can also use this time to give your children extra special attention, plan a picnic or a trip to the playground, actively listen to your children when they talk, play board games, binge watch Netflix, or enjoy a lazy day.

2. Read a few parenting books this year. I love reading but lately I have only been reading novels. This year, I'd like to squeeze in a few parenting books. The books I'm reading this year are
How to Talk So Kids Will Listen & Listen So Kids Will TalkNo Bad Kids: Toddler Discipline Without Shame, and The 5 Love Languages of Children: The Secret to Loving Children Effectively.

3. Practice peaceful parenting. I like to consider myself to be a gentle/peaceful parent but there is always room for improvement. My little lady is 4 now and is discovering her own voice, having an opinion about everything, and wanting to do the opposite of what I am asking her to do. This can sometimes be frustrating, so I would like to practice responding to my child instead of reacting, reduce my use of the word "no", and overall being more attentive. If you would like peaceful/gentle parenting inspiration, follow along here: Peaceful, Gentle Childhood.

10 Vegan Books for Kids

Happy World Vegan Month! I have a fun fact for you that you may or may not know, Ava and I are vegan! The other day Ava asked me to read a few of her vegan books. I realized that she only has one official vegan book, the rest of her "vegan" books are accidentally vegan books. Veganism is excitedly on the rise and I would like to share a few books to read to your child if you are making the transition to plant based eating.

Vegan books for ages 3-5. These books are very simple and easy to understand along with vibrant pictures. My daughter's favorite of this group is Eating The Alphabet.

1. Growing Vegetable Soup by Lois Ehlert
2. Eating the Alphabet by Lois Ehlert
3. V Is For Vegan by Ruby Roth
4. Linus The Vegetarian T-Rex by Robert Neubecker
5. Rah, Rah, Radishes by April Pulley Sayre
6. Go Go Grapes by April Pulley Sayre

Vegan Books for ages 4-8. These books are longer, but are still awesome to read to budding vegans.

7. The Vegetables We Eat by Gail Gibbons
8. The Fruits We Eat by Gail Gibbons
9. Herb the Vegetarian Dragon by Jules Bass
10. The Lorax by Dr. Seuss
Ok, you got me! The Lorax isn't exactly a vegan book but it does talk about protecting the environment and living a vegan lifestyle is one of the best ways to protect the environment! These books aren't overly graphic, they explain eating fruits and veggies in a fun way, and they are great to read even if veganism isn't your thing. We personally own all of these books and I highly recommend all of them. Let me now which books look interesting to you. Until next time.

Our First Professional Photoshoot!

Throughout my blogging journey, I have taken hundreds of pictures. Those pictures were mostly taken by my mom, bestie, or myself. I've never had a professional photo shoot! This past weekend was extra special for me because I had my first mother daughter photo shoot with Photography By Teri Ann. The pictures are beautiful and I thought I would share them with you all. Have a look below.

I had been eyeing sunflower pictures for a while now, so I decided to book our shoot at a sunflower farm here in Georgia. It was about an hour and a half drive from Atlanta but so worth it!

Teri was even able to capture a few smiles from Ava! I have to bribe Ava for a good smile lol.
Even though I take pictures of us all of the time, I'm so glad I went ahead and booked a professional photo shoot. It's nice to have someone else capture moments for me, the editing is also amazing considering that there wasn't mush daylight to work with. I love all of the pictures and there were so many shots to choose from but I wanted to share my favorites.

If you are in Georgia, I hope you consider booking Teri for your next shoot, you won't be disapointed!
You can look at my dress HERE in pink and Ava's dress HERE in white.
