Habits, those little things that we do and don't even realize we are doing them. We all have habits, I like to think that I, as well as most people, have a more good habits than bad. Some of my personal good habits include waking up before my daughter, preparing breakfast daily, and using a planner to plan our days.
Good habits are necessary for all moms especially stay at home moms. It's so easy for us to fall into bad habits, I wrote about a few HERE. I wanted to share a few habits that are good to embrace whether you are a stay at home mom or not.

Planning playdates - One of my best SAHM habits is planning playdates and meetups! I am the queen of getting together with my mom friends. Sometimes I plan large meetups in my Facebook group Mom Friends of Atlanta or I'll just text my friends about getting together for a playdate. The picture above is a meetup with my #MomTribe at a local beach. I like to keep playdates simple, a playground, splash pad, or every now and then, someone's home. Either way, getting together with friends as a SAHM is needed for both you and your child.

Crafts - Amazon, Target dollar spot and the Dollar Tree are my BFFs when it comes to crafts. Crafts can make a long rainy day at home bearable lol. I like to keep some art supplies on hand like paper, crayons, paint. But for special projects, I'll head to the store to pick up what I need. Ava likes to paint and draw. One of her favorite toys is her easel
Daily reading - Reading is one of the best things you can do for yourself and your child. We set a small goal to read at least 5 books a day. Reading helps with brain development, is wonderful for bonding, and what child doesn't love reading! I like to read for myself at night before bed. Sometimes I'll read when I wake up in the morning. I prefer an audio book if I am reading in the morning. I also set a goal for myself of reading 1 book a month.
We are all striving to be the best mom that we can be to our children. I like to think that these few good habits make me feel like super mom. What are some of your good mom habits? Let me know in the comments! Until next time.
Great ideas for all of us stay at home moms! I try to do the best among all the chaos with having 3 home this summer...my best good mom habit is making sure they do at least one learning activity during the day :)

ReplyDeleteMy daughter loves and looks forward to playing with her friends.
DeleteI cant say I am good at following routines, but your suggestions are great

As a former elementary teacher, I recognize the value of reading daily, for sure! Having routines in place has also always been super important to me. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas. I'm a sahm as well and it's super easy to fall into ruts and bad habits. I really enjoy play dates and try and schedule one a week (anymore than that is too much for me!) I love the goal of reading 5books a day with your kids. We read at night but don't make it intentional to read during the day as much. One of my New Years resolutions was to to read 1book a month as well!!
ReplyDeleteI recently became a SAHM and we love all of these things. I try to have something planned a few days a week so that we stay away from the screens!

ReplyDeleteI am a stay at home mom and I suck at planning play dates and get togethers I am going to look at facebook groups and see if there is a local area meet up in Otsego, Michigan. I live in a really small town. I might have to start my own group. I did that once before it was a lot of work to run it.
ReplyDeletePlay dates are SO important. Stay at home can feel isolating. I try to shoot for 1-2 play dates a week!
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas and advice!
ReplyDeleteTotally agree! Play dates are not only great for the kids, but if you host one at your house it's motivating for you to clean your house! ;-)
ReplyDeleteYes! Love setting up play dates for my kids! I also second getting up before my kids...it's a must to start the day out on the right foot!
ReplyDeleteYes to all of this! We also try to get some time to run outside everyday, and baking a special treat together can be fun too on rainy days.
ReplyDeleteIf baby story time at the library counts as a play date, then we do that, but otherwise I haven't tried to arrange play time with other parents. I do love reading to her and playing with her though!
ReplyDeleteI love to cook with my kids, do yoga together, go on walks to the pool or the playground, have them help me shop, go to museums and the library, go on nature walks, etc.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm a working mom I have to pack all that stuff into a weekend. :)
As a stay at home mom myself planning play dates is probably my favorite. Me and my daughter need to get out and be around other kids and other adults as much as we can or we both go crazy 😜
