Moming is hard, like really hard. Being a SAHM, it is so easy to fall into bad habits. No one is around to see that you haven't moved from the couch all day, and if you did move from the couch, it was to hand your little one the iPad so you can continue to sit on the couch lol. Or maybe that was just me?! I know I share all the fun, get up and go activities that my daughter and I do on my blog, but even though I have unicorn blood, I too can/have fallen prey to bad habits. Here are some of my bad habits and how I ditched them.

Wearing Sweat Pants
Not Packing Snacks
No matter how much your little one eats before you leave the house, hearing, seeing, or smelling food will make them want to eat again, and they will whine until they get to eat! Case and point: I took my little person for a playdate. She had a full belly before we left the house and we weren't staying at the playdate long so I didn't bother bringing her snack. As soon as the other mom mentioned "snack" Ava wanted a snack. The whining began, and she wasn't even hungry!! So whatever you do, have some food stashed somewhere lol. I love keeping fig bars in my purse now. Lesson learned!
Too Much Screen Time
This is a biggie. Kids can be hypnotized by a screen whether it's a kindle, iPad, television, or computer. A hypnotized kid means a break for mom. Win, win right? Wrong!!! I have personally found that too much screen time for my daughter makes her a cranky, stubborn, mess. I made the mistake of letting Ava play games on the kindle or watch PBS Kids a little too much a few weeks ago. Of course when I tell her that it is time to move on to something else, the tantrums began and it seemed to go on for days. #help So to eliminate this behavior, we cut the cable and Ava is a new person! She is pretending a ton more, we play together more, she is attentive, and she is listening better. I will occasionally let her watch Reading Rainbow or an animal documentary on Netflix, but having the TV on all day is non existent and I am happy with that.

Can you believe it? This well planned and organized mom was leaving the house wearing sweat pants and no snacks! Thankfully I realized what I was doing, it took a few pictures of me looking horrible to realize it lol. Do you have any bad mom habits? What are you doing to change? Leave a comment below! Until next time

Sweatpants all day ♡
ReplyDeleteI am not a SAHM but I totally agree about the screen time thing. On the weekend I notice us adding in too much technology time.
ReplyDeleteGood list! I'm not a SAHM but the weekends sure do sound just like this! Especially the screen time. Glad it's not just me.
ReplyDeleteMy kids ask for a snack every time we get in the car and it does not matter if we just ate. Trying to break the snacking habit! I do wear yoga pants every day, pretty much though.
ReplyDeleteYes to all of these! I will sometimes forget to bring snacks and it never ends well for me!
ReplyDeleteI totally agree with this and at some point have done too much of all of the above! LOL Great tips!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely all great habits to break! I work from home and often find myself getting dressed for "work" just so I don't look like a mess when I drop my toddler at preschool LOL
ReplyDeleteI don't know about giving up my sweat pants/yoga pants. If I don't have to go out in public or am doing a photo shoot, I wear them. Though it's true that not wearing them boosts your mood!
ReplyDeleteI didn't give up sweats, I just stopped wearing them out the house!
DeleteI'm not a SAHM but I am so guilty of the sweat pants when I'm home. I do change out of them when we go out though
ReplyDeleteI work from home and I am afraid to admit that I live in sweats and pj's. I am working on making myself look a little more put together, so I do not frighten people at the grocery store! It does make you and your little feel better when you feel better about yourself!
ReplyDeleteNot packing snacks! WOOOOORST!!
ReplyDeleteLove wearing sweat pants & I guess I too move out of the house just like this! Inspired from your thoughts:)
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm still in pyjamas right now (9am for my defence). But I do know it's important to dress up for the day :)
ReplyDeleteI have told myself that I need to get changed and get out of the house. I am so guilty of just sitting on my ass all day long. It is so, so easy with a four month old though. Sometimes I just need to sit!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you have a tiny baby, wear all the sweats lol.
DeleteSweats are my new wardrobe! I totally need to change that! And less screen time is one I have been working on too!
ReplyDeleteoh man i'm not a SAHM and I need to break this habit! Except instead of sweats its Lularoe!

ReplyDeleteI changed my sweat pants for cute workout clothes.😊
ReplyDeleteI wish I could kick the sweats! Ha! Doesn't it always happen running into people you know when you look like you haven't slept in two weeks. LOL
ReplyDeleteThese are really great tips! Not packing snacks - this is one I have learned the hard way! I just posted today about getting out of sweatpants!
ReplyDeletefor me its not so much the sweat pants but the pajama pants. When my kids were younger, there were some days I did not get changed until 4pm
ReplyDeleteI'm still working on remembering snacks after almost 9 years of motherhood. The other day I had to run put clothes on so I could answer the door for the mailman. I guess I am guilty of all of these at times!
ReplyDeleteReally nice of you to share.
ReplyDeleteLove this post! It's so easy to fall into these bad habits as a Stay at Home Mom,
ReplyDeleteI work from home and it changes my whole day for the better when I put on 'real' clothes!
ReplyDeleteFor me it's making time to shower, sometimes it's several days, not cool. I use dry shampoo, but showering is such a mood lifter, I need to make time to so it!
ReplyDeleteThere are days when it is after dinner and I am trying to figure out if I ever brushed my teeth LOL! Eek!
ReplyDeleteI can attest to all of this! :/
ReplyDeleteShortcuts can be soooo helpful but in the long run they all play on our moods.. Great examples. Love how you cut the cable so that your little girl wouldn't be able to be transfixed with the telly. You sound like a mega mum!
ReplyDeleteOkay sweat pants are totally a necessity :P I'm a routine oriented person and mornings are my prime time so my habits are more being a slacker at bedtime/pre dinner time!
ReplyDeletehaha I am a SAHM too and wearing sweat pants is something I do most days because they are so comfy
ReplyDeleteBeing a mommy is tough work, especially a SAHM. I wasn't a sweatpants mom, but loved my shorts & t-shirt. I agree on the snacks and definitely the screen time.
ReplyDeleteI agree completely that screen time should be limited no matter who you are! Everything in moderation! Plus there is so many wonderful things to see outside!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty good with the no screen time, but live in my Jammies and definitely could be better about packing snacks!
ReplyDeleteI wear leggings and long shirts lol! It is comfy and somewhat stylish. Maybe I am old school but I send my kids out in our yard to play, I tell them to find bugs or sticks or whatever, use your imagination! Get outside! Mom needs quiet time lol :)
ReplyDeleteI majorly cut back on TV time for my 4 year old recently. We'd have the TV playing practically all day even when he wasn't watching it and I was definitely feeling the mom guilt. Now I try to only let him watch maybe an hour a day and do lots of crafts and learning. I'm also bad about staying in my PJs!
ReplyDeleteYes to all!! Especially the snacks! Then when I do bring snacks it never seems to be enough! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a SAHM but I am home most of the week with my kids. I live in yoga pants and a robe lol but when we do go out, I try to look put together at least a little bit. We began a "no tech thursday" early this year and when it worked, it was great. No t.v., no tablet, no playing on mom's phone. Great tips!
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with your last two! And the first one...in theory. Hahaha No really, it's good advice, but hard to follow sometimes. It does seem to help me when I feel cute, though. Nice to meet you through the link-up party!
ReplyDeleteI'm sooo bad about forgetting snacks and it's true I'm so much more productive if I shower and GET DRESSED!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking I need more sweatpants LOL. I do home daycare too so I need to be comfortable... I hate jeans.
ReplyDeleteSuch great tips! I am not a mom yet, but my #1 goal is to be a stay at home mom when the time comes.
ReplyDeleteI'm so guilty of a few of these. I usually dress okay when we run errands but the second I get home - sweatpants!
ReplyDeleteAlso guilty as charged :) I love my comfy clothes. I don't see anything wrong with it. Why not wear them in the house. I change when I go out :)
ReplyDeleteYes to all of the above! There is definitely a balance to be sought with each.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a mom yet but I work from home and I'm so guilty of wearing pjs all day haha.
ReplyDeleteI've been known to be guilty of all of these on occasion. We're all much happier when I make a point not to.
ReplyDeleteI always get dressed in the morning!! I feel it makes a world of difference
ReplyDeleteYES! These are all things I discovered the hard way - great post putting them out there for others. Gotta get dressed.
ReplyDeleteLol! I love the part about snacks.
ReplyDeleteI never leave home with my pyjama bottoms on, but I wear them allll the time around the house! Lol
ReplyDeleteWhat great advice. I am a new stay at home mom and I am so guilty of wearing sweat pants and allowing too much screen time. Will be making some changes today. Thanks for your post.
